Stargate SG-1: Fire and Water

Episode 13 (Fire and Water) is not good. Even Bloodlines was better. It's slow, not much happens, and if you skipped it you'd miss nothing. Skip it is my advice.

There are some nice uniforms though.
It begins with SG-1 (sans Daniel Jackson) returning from a new planet ahead of schedule, soaking wet and in obvious distress, claiming that Daniel Jackson was burned to death. The rest of the team survived by diving into a body of water. Hammond suggests sending a team back to recover the body but the rest of SG-1 are adamant that no one ever return to that planet. They hold a funeral and send a wreath through the stargate and if you're buying this for even one second then I can only assume you've never seen television before.

The wreath sort of floats there before being sucked through the gate.
So of course Daniel's alive and well and has been captured by an alien. A sort of fish-man type of thing. The alien wants him to provide information about its "mate" (terminology I always find odd in sci-fi. Why not say "wife"?) but Daniel obviously doesn't know anything about her. They go back and forth about this a bit but get nowhere.

At least he looks kind of cool?
Meanwhile back on Earth they hold a wake for Daniel and go to clean out his house. But SG-1 keep experiencing these flashes of incongruous memories, and have trouble believing that Daniel is dead. We, the audience, know that their memories have obviously been altered, and it's incredibly frustrating waiting for them to catch on.

And we get to see Teal'c in Earth clothes.
Eventually the alien puts Daniel in a machine that can read his memories, in the hope that he knows something useful. He hasn't used it so far because it could cause brain damage, but since he refuses to let Daniel go anyway, Daniel decides it's worth the risk. And it works fine and the alien finds out what he wants to know and lets Daniel go.

Doesn't look comfortable.
At the same time, SG-1 figure out that their memories have been altered (using hypnosis) and go back to the planet, just in time to meet Daniel and the alien. Daniel tries to convince the alien to help them, and he basically says "maybe one day" and leaves, never to be seen again. Episode over.

Rarr!
